Jalandhar, April 10, 2019: The rural police on Wednesday have arrested seven members of robbers' gang and seized .32 bore two pistols, six live cartridges, two magazines, four sharp-edged weapons and two bikes.
The accused have been identified as Dilbagh Singh (30) of village Chak Attari Sadarwala in Muktsar, Harpreet Singh (24) of Nizamwala, Akashdeep Singh (30) of Basti Ram Lal, Sandip Singh (24) Satnam Singh (22) of Mallanwala Khas, Simranjit Singh (26) of Baghewala, all in Ferozepur and Kuldip Kumar (26) of Mohalla Government Hospital in Mehatpur Jalandhar.
Addressing a press the conference, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) rural Navjot Singh Mahal accompanied by SP (investigation) Rajveer Singh, SP(headquarters) Mr Ravinder Pal Singh Sandhu said sub-inspector Mr Surinder of CIA Staff-II had received a tip-off that some persons are conspiring to loot a fuel station in Mehatpur town following which he along with his team nabbed seven members of the gang in an abandoned place near Y-Point, GT road highway, Darewal village.
Mahal said on being quizzed, it has come to fore that they had robbed Rs 10 lakh from a reliance a fuel station in Muktsar during August 2018 and killed the employee by opening fires on him there in the crime. He said that the gang members had also looted Rs 85000 from a financier in Ferozepur and both cases were registered in both districts but remained unsolved.
SSP added that all of the accused are well-known to each other and were planning to loot a pump in Mehatpur town of the district.
He told that a case under sections 399 and 402 of IPC has been registered against them in Lohian Police Station and the accused would be taken on police remand for further questioning.
In another case, the rural police on Wednesday arrested a Nigerian national after seizing one-kg heroin from his possession.
The accused has been identified as Justine of Pillar No-877, Dwarka Block-D, New Delhi.
Addressing a press conference, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) rural Navjot Singh Mahal accompanied by SP (investigation) Rajveer Singh, SP(headquarters) Mr Ravinder Pal Singh Sandhu said that a SHO Bhogpur Police Station Inspector Davinder Singh along with police party was conducting special checking at Turning Point, Adampur.
SSP said that during checking, the cops spotted a foreigner who was carrying a backpack. He told that cops stopped him on suspicion and frisked in the presence of Adampur DSP Mr Gurdev Singh following which the cops seized one-kg heroin.
Mahal further added that a case under sections 21,61 and 85 of NDPS Act has been registered against him and the accused will be taken on remand for further questioning regarding the source.
He said that the accused had brought the contraband from Delhi.
SSP further added that in nine months, the police have seized 27-kg heroin and arrested 17 foreigners including nine women.
