Fatehgarh Sahib, May 19 - A voter turnout of 65.65 percent was recorded in Parliamentary constituency Fatehgarh Sahib-08 and no untoward incident was reported in the constituency and the polling remained peaceful. This was stated by Dr. Prashant Kumar Goyal, District Election Officer cum Deputy Commissioner, Fatehgarh Sahib here at District Administration Complex while giving the details about the completion of the voting. He appreciated and thanked the voters for their cooperation in conducting the voting in peaceful manner.
He said that EVM and VVPAT machines have been placed in the strong rooms established at Guru Granth Sahib University, Fatehgarh Sahib and Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Ludhiana under full proof security. These machines would be opened in the presence of election observers and representatives of the political parties on the day of counting i.e. May 23, 2019.
Dr. Goyal said that the polling started at 07:00 am and voter turnout of 10.55 percent was recorded till 09:00 am. Voter turnout till 11:00 am was 21.29 percent, till 01:00 pm it was 36.89 percent, till 03:00 pm it was 48.76 percent, till 05:00 pm voter turnout was 58.21 percent and after that the final turnout recorded was 65.65percent.
SSP Amneet Kondal also thanked the voters, polling staff, paramilitary forces and police force for their cooperation in conducting the poll in free, fair and peaceful manner. She said that the security arrangements for the strong rooms were on place and strict security arrangements would also be made on the day of counting.
