Fazilka, September 17, 2019: Mahatma Gandhi State Institute of Public Administration, Punjab, (MGSIPA) Regional Centre, Bathinda organized two-day training programme on "Sevottam - Excellence in Service Delivery" which concluded here today. About 30 participants including Group A & B Officers joined the programme. The aims and objective of this training programme is to motivate the government functionaries to dedicate themselves for improving public service delivery in their respective organizations which is the essential component of good governance. During this two-day programme, the experts delivered lectures on the subjects including Concept of Sevottam & Sevottam compliant Citizen Charter, Motivation for delivery of Citizen Centric Services, E-District/E-Sewa, E-Office, State Service Delivery Gateways (SSDG) – Moving towards Digital India and Punjab Transparency & Accountability in delivery of Public Services Act, 2018.
SDM Fazilka Mr. Subhash Khatak while launching program said that the Sevottam program has great relevance and importance for meeting the growing needs and aspiration of the People. He expressed the hope that the government functionaries who will be equipped with innovative ideas of the Sevottam concept will be made competent to serve the people in a befitting manner.
Interacting with the participants, Mr. Jarnail Singh, Regional Project Director, mgsipa Bathinda said that the Sevottam Project is one of the series of the training programmes conceived by Mr. Karan Bir Singh Sidhu, Special Chief Secretary to Government of Punjab and Director General, MGSIPA and Mrs. Jaspreet Talwar, Secretary to Govt. of Punjab and Director, MGSIPA. These programm are sponsored by different Ministries of Government of India. He said that 15 sevottam programmes are being organized in different parts of the state by MGSIPA to encourage the government officers and officials of different departments to focus on improving public service delivery. He said that sevottam is a combination of two words Seva + Uttam meaning Uttam Seva i.e. Excellence in Services. This sevottam model has three modules including Citizen Centric charter, public grievance Redress Mechanism and service delivery capability. This Sevottam project was started in MGSIPA in 2012 which contributed a lot towards success of e-governance programmes.
