CHANDIGARH, November 22, 2019 - Dismissing Akali leader Bikram Singh Majithia’s allegations against Jail Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, Congress leaders from Gurdaspur today said, it was a classic case of kettle calling pot black.
“It is strange that the person who is the godfather of crime, gangsters, peddlers and smugglers in Punjab has the audacity to level such baseless allegations against Randhawa who has launched a vigorous campaign against gangsters”, the MLAs remarked, while adding, the culture of gangsters and drugs was the legacy of the Akalis, particularly Majithia who during ten years rule had patronized all the criminals, gangsters and drug smugglers as their godfather.
In a joint statement, Cabinet Minister Aruna Chaudhary, party legislators Fateh Jang Singh Bajwa, Barindermit Singh Pahra, Balwinder Singh Ladi and Ex MLA Ashwani Sekhri said, Randhawa and his family did not need any certificate of patriotism from someone like Majithia. “Randhawa family has a history of patriotism right from S Santokh Singh Randhawa onwards and everyone knows it”, they reminded the Akali leader, while asking him not to stoop too low in failure and frustration.
The Congress leaders asserted that the culture of gangsters and drugs was created by Majithia whose links with the drug mafia, criminals and the gangsters are too well known. They said, the notorious criminal Jaggu Bhagwanpuria was patronized by Majithia only. “No matter how hard Majithia and the Akalis may try to deflect the public attention from their sins of omission and commission, people of Punjab will never forgive them”, they said, while advising the Akali leader that he should better go for penance than leveling false allegations against others.
“But let us promise and assure you today, come what may, no matter what allegations you will level against our leaders and ministers, neither the people of Punjab nor the government of Punjab is going to let you off for all the sins you have committed during ten years of Akali-BJP rule”, they warned Majithia.
