Barnala, January 27, 2020: Under the smart ration card scheme being run by the Punjab Government, the Cabinet Minister Punjab, Mr. Sundar Sham Arora started the distribution of the wheat of current phase (October 2019-March 2020) at the village Patti Sekhwan of the district on Sunday. Meanwhile, Mr. Arora also handed over the check of Rs. 5 lakhs to Gram Panchayat of the village. On this occasion, Vice-President Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee Kewal Singh Dhillon, Deputy Commissioner Mr. Tej Pratap Singh Phoolka, SSP Harjit Singh, District Food and Supply Controller Harjit Kaur were also present.
Speaking on the occasion, the Cabinet Minister said that the Smart Ration Card Scheme implemented by the Punjab government has brought full transparency in the distribution of wheat to the needy and this scheme is a boon for the poor families. He said that under the Smart Ration Card Scheme about 35 lakh families and around 1.37 crore family members of the Punjab are getting wheat on cheaper rates. He said that a total of 65973 families availing benefit of the scheme in the district and distribution (Allocation) of 7809.415 MT of wheat has been approved.
Meanwhile, the Cabinet Minister also handed over a check of Rs 5 lakhs to the Gram Panchayat for the village.
Meanwhile the Cabinet Minister also inaugurated the Government Senior Secondary Selfmade Smart School at Sandhu Patti, Barnala, which has equipped with 8 projectors in smart class rooms, educational park and other smart technology.
On this occasion District Education Officer Sarabjit Singh Toor, Deputy District Education Officer Harkanwaljit Kaur, Principal Ravinderpal Singh were also present.
