Says passes would be given to their work force soon
Chandigarh, March 25, 2020: Union food processing industries minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal today assured the All India Food Processors Association (AIFPA) that their request to operate and provide ‘passes’ for work force for travelling to and fro from work places was under consideration and was likely to acceded to soon.
The Union minister gave this assurance to AIFPA President Dr Subodh Jindal and also assured that permits would be provided to local goods vehicles to carry raw materials, packaging and food products. She said problem resolution cells would also be established in each district for quick resolution of hurdles faced by the food industry.
Dr Subodh Jindal also thanked the Union minister for her pro-active approach and support to the food industry to ensure there was no hitch in the supply of foodstuff to the people. He also highlighted that seller establishments which were not in a retail market were being forced to close down. He said these establishments had zero touch with people and should be allowed to function. The AIFPA President also highlighted how aggregation centers which picked up food material from sellers and connected to the last mile were being shut and urged that they be allowed to remain open.
Mrs Badal assured AIFPA that all the issues raised by them were under active consideration and would be resolved at the earliest to ensure there was no hurdle in the supply of essential commodities to the people during the current lockdown.
