Baghdad, the capital of Iraq and a prominent city in the Islamic world, has close spiritual ties with Batala. When the spiritual shower from the city of Baghdad reached Batala, the land there became immersed in spirituality.
These spiritual blessings from Baghdad to Batala arrived in the form of Hazrat Badruddin Hussain al-Qadri on 18 August 1498, and even after five centuries, the grace of that Beloved of God remains in the Batala area.
The beautiful Dargah of Hazrat Badruddin Hussain Al-Qadri at Massanian village near Batala is a symbol of love, peace and integrated of all religions.
The four towers of this Dargah have remained the same even after many centuries and are conveying the message of equality to all the four religions.
Hazrat Badruddin Hussein Al-Qadri was born on November 7, 1457 in Baghdad, the capital of Iraq. He was saint and given the message of love and peace.
In 1493, Hazrat Badruddin Husain al-Qadri left his home in Baghdad and headed for Lahore. He spent 5 years in the city of Lahore in Bandagi of Allah.
The people of Lahore paid homage to him and began to worship him in the name of Hazrat Shah Badr Diwan. Hazrat Badruddin Hussain Al-Qadri then proceeded from Lahore to Batala, a prominent city in the Bari Doab, and on 18 August 1498 reached Batala.
He spent some time in the city of Batala and finally made his final destination at Massania village, 5 km east of Batala.
It is said that when Hazrat Badruddin Hussain Al-Qadri came to Massania, there were only graveyards at that time. This Beloved of God made his place here and with his blessings settled the village of Massania.
Hazrat Badruddin Hussain Al-Qadri did not go anywhere again and spent his life doing Bandagi at Massania. He married Bibi Murasa, daughter of Hazrat Dawood Bukhari, a resident of Sohal village near Dhariwal. They had four sons and a daughter.
Hazrat Badruddin Hussain Al-Qadri was a contemporary of Guru Nanak. It is believed that when Guru Nanak Dev Ji came to Achal Watala for Siddha Goshit in 1530, Hazrat Badruddin Hussain Al-Qadri also came to Achal Watala to visit him.
Massania is only 3 km from Achal Sahib. While Hazrat Badruddin Hussain Al-Qadri held a very high position in the Muslim community, Hindus and Sikhs were also his followers.
Emperor Akbar was also a follower of Hazrat Badruddin Hussain Al-Qadri and had given him a large piece of land in the village of Masaniyan as a donation from the government.
Hazrat Badruddin Hussain Al-Qadri passed away on August 12, 1570. His grandson Shah Abdul Shakur Gilani Qadri built a beautiful Dargah in his memory. This Dargah with four minars (tower) is still in very good condition and is being maintained by the Archaeological Department of the Government of India.
Before 1947, Massania was a Muslim village. Hazrat Badruddin Hussain Al-Qadri was highly regarded by the people of Masani village and all over Batala.
When the Indo-Pak partition took place, many Muslims from the area gathered at Massania and several days later went to Pakistan under army guard. According to villagers, until 1953, some Muslim families lived in Massania village.
After all, even after the departure of all the Muslims, the people of Massania and Batala did not lose their love for the visiting this Dargah and the people took the responsibility of caring for this holy shrine.
After all, Sadhu Masih, who belongs to a Christian family from village Massania, took the responsibility of the service and today his son Younis Masih is also serving the Dargah.
This Dargah of Hazrat Badruddin Hussain Al-Qadri at Masaniyan village is very beautiful and the soul blossoms at the sight of it. There is a beautiful mosque in front of the Dargah and a madrasa is also running here.
The Dargah of this Muslim fakir at village Massania is being served by a person belonging to the Christian community while all the worshipers are non-Muslims. Hazrat Badruddin Hussain Al-Qadri left Baghdad and chose Batala and the people of Batala still have great respect and reverence for him.
May this spiritual union between Baghdad and Batala continue and may this Dargah of Hazrat Badruddin Hussain Al-Qadri continue to teach humanity to mankind.
