DC writes to DRM to rectify choked drain-out system at Railway Underpass
Ferozepur, July 17, 2019: Seeing the inconvenience to the people of Ferozepur with accumulation of rain water under railway underpass, the Deputy Commissioner Ferozepur has written to the Divisional Rail Manager to immediately rectify the choked drain-out system at Railway Underpass at Basti Tankan Wali.
A car was also seen submerged in BTW underpass. The normal life in the surrounding areas had gone out of gear as this railway underpass connects the City and Cantonment area. With the construction of this underpass, there was uninterrupted traffic flow when earlier the people had to wait at the railway crossing.
Meanwhile, after the heavy rains on Tuesday, the accumulated rainwater due to blockage of drainage system was pumped out within 2-3 hours.
The railway underpass was built by funding Rs.8 crore by the Punjab Government and Rs.4 crore by the Municipal Council and it was got beautified just a month back by one private company – Way Ahead Immigration Corporation.
When contacted, Deputy Commissioner Ferozepur, he said, the matter has been taken up with the DRM, who has assured to look into the matter and get it done.
Seeing the importance of the issue, DRM gave a quick response, after review with the concerned section, for taking preventive measures as per the technical opinion, to avoid further water-logging, which was due to in-flow from the adjacent colony.
