Jalandhar, September 15, 2019: The health department has administered polio drops to 55635 children between 0-5 years of age on the first day of three-day Migratory pulse polio drive started on Sunday.
A spokesperson of the health department said that during the drive today, 1089 health teams administered polio drops to 12820 children in rural areas and 42815 children in urban areas.
He said that a total of 1089 teams were formed for this purpose and 152 supervisors were deputed to carry out the drive. Besides, front line health workers including ASHA, Multiple Health Workers, college students and others took part in the drive, he added.
He added that the special mobile health teams visited bus stand, railway station, markets and other areas during the drive and administrated polio drops to the children.
He said that the migratory population residing in slums and brick kilns was being specially covered in this drive.
