Chandigarh, March 13, 2024 - Haryana's Chief Electoral Officer, Sh. Anurag Agarwal stated that each vote holds immense importance in India's democratic system. The Election Commission wishes for every voter to celebrate the election season like a festival by exercising their franchise.
Agarwal was presiding over the review meeting today on the arrangements being made regarding the upcoming Lok Sabha 2024 elections in the state.
It was informed during the meeting that there are 12,53,170 voters in the 18 - 22 age group in the state, who will be exercising their voting rights for the first time. The Election Commission's endeavour will be to encourage as many young voters as possible to participate in this electoral process.
The Election Commission has made special arrangements for voters aged over 85 years to ensure they face no difficulties in casting their votes. Senior citizens who are 85 years and older will be able to opt for postal ballots. If they wish to vote at the polling station but face transportation issues, arrangements will be made for transportation from their homes to the polling station.
