'AAP-LIP alliance gets more votes than Congress, SAD-BJP in Ludhiana Zone'
Ludhiana, March 12, 2017: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has emerged as the most preferred party for the voters of the nine Assembly constituencies of Ludhiana Zone. The party had divided Punjab into different zones comprising certain number of constituencies as per its strategy of contesting the Assembly elections.
Ludhiana Zone comprises Ludhiana North, Ludhiana South, Ludhiana East, Ludhiana West, Ludhiana Central, Atam Nagar, Gill and Jagraon constituencies. AAP-LIP Alliance won four out of these nine Assembly seats. The AAP-LIP alliance got more votes than Congress and SAD-BJP in this zone.
AAP's Ludhiana Zone Observer Darshan Singh Shankar claimed that calculations done by them showed AAP-LIP fetched total 404009 votes, whereas Congress got 394061 and SAD-BJP remained at 298273 votes.
Shankar thanked the party volunteers and voters of Ludhiana Zone for supporting and voting in large number in favour of all the nine candidates of the alliance. He asserted that the alliance faithfully adhered to its principled stand against use of any allurements like distribution of money and intoxicants among voters.
Highlighting that it was a creditable achievement for the party becoming the main Opposition party in the Punjab Assembly, he exhorted the volunteers not to get disheartened by the overall results which have gone in the favour of Congress instead of their party. The volunteers should work harder to fulfil the dream of making Punjab a corruption and drugs-free state.
He also thanked the Punjabi NRIs who had supported the party in a big way in the elections..
