Public display of Bhagat Singh’s pistol in Punjab soon
Chandigarh, May 22, 2017: Director General, Border Security Force (BSF) has issued orders for immediate transfer of Shaheed Bhagat Singh’s pistol to BSF museum at martyrs’ memorial, Hussainiwala, Ferozepur near Indo-Pak border.
An affidavit in this regard was filed by DIG Arun Kumar of BSF during the resumed hearing of the case of pistol’s transfer to Punjab on Monday before the Punjab and Haryana High Court Bench of Justices SS Saron and Darshan Singh.
The affidavit was filed in response to the PIL by advocate Hari Chand Arora.
As per the affidavit, the DG, BSF issued orders of transfer on April 25, 2017, said Arora.
The development has paved way for public display of the pistol at the memorial of Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev at Hussainiwala where visitors can have a glimpse of it and pay their tributes.
It was, so far, in lying at the BSF museum, Indore.
The petitioner advocate, Hari Chand Arora, expressed his satisfaction, after which the HC Bench disposed off the PIL as having been rendered infructuous.
