Chandigarh, July 10, 2017: The Election Commission of India has banned the use of cellular phones, cordless phones and wireless sets inside polling stations in the ensuing election to the office of President of India-2017. These directives will also be applicable on the day of counting.
A spokesman of Haryana Vidhan Sabha Secretariat said that arrangement would be made near polling premise to deposit the cellular phone, if any, brought by any voter before entering the place of polling which could be collected back after casting the vote. A signboard to this effect would be kept outside the place of polling.
He said that no official including Observers would be allowed to use a cell phone inside the place of the poll. The Returning Officer (RO) and Assistant Returning Officer (ARO) would arrange for a Control Room with a dedicated telephone line so that whenever the Commission’s officials need to contact RO or ARO or Observer, they can pass the information through control room number. In case, ARO or Observer needs to contact the Commission, they should come out of the place of the poll and contact accordingly.
