Jalandhar, July 23, 2017: On the directions of Jalandhar Deputy Commissioner Mr Varinder Kumar Sharma, a team of the officers of the district administration today conducted surprise checking at the various polling booths to monitor the work of registration of new voters in the district during special camps.
A team of officers led by Election Tehsildar Mr. Raj Kumar Tangri today conducted surprise check at Malisan, Nakodar, Phillaur and Goraya polling booths. Mr. Tangri minutely observed the working of the various BLOs entrusted the work to register the votes on this special day. He also had detailed deliberations with the people arriving at the polling booths for getting them registered as voters.
The Election Tehsildar said that the district administration has started a special drive from July 1 to register new voters especially the youngsters. He said that the main motive of this drive was to ensure error free revision of the electoral rolls by enrolling the left segment of voters . Mr. Tangri said that during this drive a special camp was organized for enrolling new voters at their respective booths on July 9 and today another such camp was organized today in the district during which the Booth Level Officers had visited the respective booths to enroll the new voters.
The Tehsildar said that the main aim of the check was to ensure that all the BLOs were imparting their duty diligently, so that people do not face any sort of problem. He further said that this drive would continue till July 31 and people could now apply for new vote, deletion vote and file claims and objections through ERO NET during this special drive. Mr. Tangri also said that the new voters could also register themselves online through National Voter Services Portal (NVSP).
