Gurdaspur, September 29, 2017: Gurdaspur Police have booked Former Akali minister Sucha Singh Langah on the allegations of rape.
The case has been registered on the compliant of woman. SSP Gurdaspur Harcharan Singh Bhullar told babushahi that Langah has been booked under Sections 376, 384, 420 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against Langah at the city police station, Gurdaspur for further investigation.
He also told that the woman complainant handed over a pen drive to the police as a proof of the crime.
Langah could not be contacted for his version.
The alleged rape case against Langah comes at a politically crucial time for his party ahead of the Gurdaspur parliamentary by-poll scheduled for October 11.
A woman employee of Punjab Government complained to the Police on September 28 that Sucha Singh Langah had been black-mailing and raping her since 2009. The victim said that she came into his contact after the death of her husband who was in Punjab Police. Langah had promised her a government job and forcibly had sex with her. He raped her before arranging government job and then continued to have physical relations on the pretext that he had given her government job.
The woman also alleged that Langah had sold her property fraudulently.
SSP Bhullar said Police registered the case yesterday after receiving complaint and opinion of DA legal. While No arrest has been made so far, the police said. SSP Said that the victim with her complaint has provide a pen drive with video recording and affidavit. She asked the police for security and we provide police personals for her protection Bhullar added.
