Factory Collapse: Death toll rises to 11, Amarinder on spot visit in afternoon

Ludhiana, November 21, 2017: The death toll in the Ludhiana factory collapse has risen to 11 with recovery of one more body from the debris by the rescue and search teams.
Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh is likely to visit the spot around 2.30 pm on Tuesday, November 21, a senior district official told babushahi.com.
The officials of district administration confirmed that total 17 persons had got trapped when the factory’s building collapsed after catching fire on Monday.
Four persons are still trapped under the debris. Two injured survivors are undergoing treatment at local CMC Hospital.
Of the total 8 firefighters trapped under the debris, the bodies of 4 have been recovered so far.
Besides these 4 firefighters of local fire department, the bodies of 5 factory workers including its manager, a local leader Laxman Dravid and the president of Punjab Taxi Union Inderpal Singh have been recovered.
About 1000 police personnel, 3 companies of National Disaster Relief Force, an Army Brigade, State Disaster Response Force and Fire Service personnel of Forests Department are involved in the ongoing rescue and search operation.
