Do what Kejriwal failed to, Bajwa appeals Congress MLAs, MPs

Ludhiana, March 16, 2018: The political crisis engulfing AAP Punjab in the wake of the party’s national Convener Arvind Kejriwal’s apology to former Akali minister Bikram Majithia has cast its shadow over Punjab Congress.
The series of tweets posted by the Rajya Sabha member and former Punjab Congress chief Partap Singh Bajwa on Friday has given fresh impetus to the lingering demand within the Congress Legislature Party to initiate action against Majithia for his alleged involvement in drug trade.
Kejriwal had tendered an unconditional apology in the defamation case in an Amritsar court on Thursday wherein he withdrew all his drug trade related allegations against Majithia.
In one of his tweets, Bajwa said, “STF's report on drug trade submitted to HC as being reported in media establishes prima facie involvement of BS Majithia. Already 40 Congress MLAs have written to Punjab CM to act against Majithia, now we have enough evidence & the time is ripe that he is taken into custody”.
For this to happen, Bajwa in another tweet gave a call to all Congress MLAs and MPs to mount pressure on Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh to hand over the probe in this case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). “Shocked by the apology of AAP Supremo @Arvind Kejriwal to BS Majithia. I am of the view that CBI probe is must against the leader. I appeal to all INC MLAs & MPs to press for this demand in front of Punjab CM,” tweeted Bajwa.
Making this appeal, Bajwa warned them about the adverse political implications for Punjab Congress if the action proposed by him was not taken. “It was said from every stage before elections that Sukhbir and Majithia will be punished for ruining Punjab and if we don’t act now people of Punjab won’t spare us in 2019 and 2022. Punishing someone for a crime is giving justice and not vendetta. We need to stand by our commitment,” he added.
