Jalandhar, September 19, 2018 : Deputy Commissioner, Jalandhar Varinder Kumar Sharma and Senior Superintendent of Police. District Collector and Panchayat Samiti for free, fair and peaceful elections organized in Navjot Singh Mahal today, in support of candidates and candidates for political parties and candidates for political parties.
The officers, who regularly kept a vigil over the whole situation, during the poling hours by visiting the key and polling booths, ensured that these elections during people's franchise exercises in any sort of problem. The officers visited model and all women polling booths in Kishangarh and Kahanpur where they held detailed deliberations with the polling staff, voters and political parties of the representatives. They said that this unique initiative of the district administration and the Election Commission was a leap forward towards women empowerment and gender equality.
They said that this was a crucial step towards breaking new grounds and challenging stereotypical beliefs. They further said that this will infuse a sense of confidence in the women polling officers thereby encouraging them to perform their duty far more diligently and efficiently.
Meanwhile, the officials thanked the brave and wise people of the district for once again upholding the glorious tradition of exercising their franchise. They said that peaceful turn out by voters for exercising their franchise reflects the love that the Punjabis have their own democratic rights. They said that polling was largely peaceful and there was no report of any polling booth in the assembly constituency. They said that no major incident of violence was reported during the voting that started at 8 am in the morning and was completed at 4 pm.
All 1206 polling booths on polling of smooth and hassle-free conduct were made for the district administration and the administration of around 12,000 personnel on both the civil and police administration.
