Wayanad, Apr 17 :: Congress chief Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday reached out to the people of Wayanad, saying that he just doesn't want to have a bond of just few months but a lifelong relationship with the people of the district, like their friend, brother and a son.
Speaking at a public meeting at Sulthan Battery near here, Mr Gandhi said the issues of the hilly district including the tracel-ban during night would be addressed by the Congress government.
"Kerala is known for its peaceful co-existence and there is a lot the.other people admire about the state. The people of Kerala are courteous and greet the guests with dignity and respect. I am standing in front of you as your son, brother or friend", Mr Gandhi added.
The Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President Mullapally Ramachandran, All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary K C Venugopal and Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) leader P K Kunhalikuttuy were among those who were present at the meeting.(Agency)
