Bathinda, May 09, 2019: Union food processing industries minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal today urged the people to vote for development saying she had got AIIMS to Bathinda and once voted back to power would get more big projects to the parliamentary constituency.
Addressing village level meetings at Middukhera, Bhuliara, Lohara and Killianwali besides other villages in Lambi assembly segment, Mrs Badal said “I will continue to strive for the development of Bathinda as part of the NDA government. My opponents who have run away from their own areas to contest from here have a proven track record of working against the interests of Bathinda. You can’t trust them with your vote”.
Stating that she was their daughter, Mrs. Badal said “you are my family. Please get together ensure my win with a record margin and simultaneous ring your friends and relatives in Patiala to ensure the Rani loses the polls. Then Raja Sahib will have to resign from his post as he has already passed a decree that any minister or legislator who does not give a good performance from his respective constituency will lose his post”.
Mrs Badal said the forthcoming election was also an election for restoration of the social welfare facilities given to the poor by S Parkash Singh Badal. “It is also a question of your pride. Chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh has insulted your pride by withdrawing all the facilities granted to you by Sardar Badal. He is also refusing to release money received from the centre for various schemes like scholarship scheme for scheduled caste students, money for health insurance and even toilets. The Congress government has even told the centre to stop payment of the direct income support scheme to farmer accounts saying the lists have to be scrutinised”.
Stating this was not all, the Bathinda MP said the poor were also suffering because of inordinately high power bills being received by them despite being eligible for partial free power. She said the partial free power scheme had been ended and the poor were being burdened with bills or Rs 30,000 to Rs one lakh. “They are going without power in many cases as the government has started an exercise to remove their meters”. She said the SAD would start a mass movement against this persecution of the poor and would not allow their meters to be removed at any cost.
