Sunam Udham Singh Wala, May 15, 2019: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who is currently on Punjab tour, started his day on Wednesday by offering floral tributes to Shaheed Udham Singh here.
On a campaign trail in Punjab in support of Punjab unit chief and party candidate from Sangrur Lok Sabha constituency Bhagwant Mann, Kejriwal reached Sunam late in the evening during a road show taken out on Tuesday.
Sunam MLA and Punjab Campaign Committee chief Aman Arora, who was accompanying Kejriwal, informed that due to late arrival of the AAP leader on Tuesday, the programme to pay tributes to the martyr was postponed to Wednesday. He added that Kejriwal visited the statue of Sardar Udham Singh on Wednesday and offered floral tributes to begin his day today.
On the occasion, Kejriwal said the martyrs were an integral part of national ethos, adding that AAP was committed to lay the foundation of India of their dreams. He said that some vested interests ruling the country for longer spells were responsible for keeping the country on the path of poverty, illiteracy and so on for the past 70 years.
