New twist to Maur Bomb Blast Case, High Court Dissolves SIT ,directs to constitute New SIT under DGP
Chandigarh, October 18, 2019 : Expressing displeasure over the progress of investigation, the Punjab and Haryana High Court today disbanded’ the Special Investigation Team led by DIG Ranbir Singh Khatra investigating Maur Bomb blast case and ordered Constituted new SIT headed by DGP Law and Order.
During a hearing today court of Justice Rajeev Sharma and Justice Arun Palli expressed strong displeasure over the progress of investigation of the present SIT headed by Ranbir Singh Khatra. The Court disbanded the earlier SIT and directed the state of Punjab to constitute new SIT to investigate the matter. The Bench said that the new SIT will be headed by DGP Law & Order and other members should not be below the rank of DIG and supporting staff not below rank of SP/DSP. It also directed the new SIT Head to carry out investigation and file status report within three months. It adjourned the case to January 13, 2020.
