Fatehgarh Sahib. March.31, 2020: A special goods train took the consignment of rice from railway station Sirhind to other states after the State government allowed the movement of trains and the Deputy Commissioner allowed the loading on the condition of maintaining all precautions required in wake of COVID threat.
Ramandeep Singh Manager FCI Sirhind told that a special train has been loaded of rice consignment required in other States. He said that as per directions of DC all the norms required were taken care. He said that Rice Miller’s Association Sirhind provided masks and sanitizers to the labour and the entire staff of FCI covered their faces with masks. He said that in the hour of crisis created due to COVID-19 threat, the FCI staff in co-operation with FCI contractor, labour and Rice millers will load as many as trains are assigned to Sirhind as it is their moral duty to serve the Nation in the hour of crisis as they required food.
Inder Jit Singh Sandhu President Rice Miller’s Association and Surjit Singh Sahi thanked the Railway authorities and DC for allotting special train and allowing the transportation of Rice from Sirhind. They demanded that more special trains for transportation of Rice and wheat should be allotted to Sirhind, so that the Rice Millers may stack consignment of milled Rice in the godowns. They assured all help to the FCI staff, contractor and labour in this regard.
