Muktsar Sahib, 2 April, 2020: The district administration is working overtime to ensure chemist shops are open 24 hour inside every government and private hospital of the district as part of the special arrangements already put in place.
“Apart from this, we have allowed shops to open on certain days that is April 5, 9 and 13 when people with medical prescription can buy required medicines between 6 am to 10 am,” said MK Aravind Kumar, Deputy Commissioner.
To ensure that this system of providing medicines to the needy works to the satisfaction of the people of the district, the DC said all the complaints, suggestions and information received telephonically at the district control room are discussed thoroughly daily at length to trash out solutions.
“After making the public at convenient to access ration, milk, LPG, curfew passes we are now fully geared up to provide medicines to the patients undergoing various treatments across the district,” he reiterated.
Moreover, the DC is himself visiting chemist shops randomly across the district.
He sent out a stern warning to unscrupulous elements to desist from disseminating any misinformation, making false complaints and unnecessary phone call at Control Room. Anybody found guilty will be dealt with an iron hand.
Drug Inspector Harita Bansal said that there are about 750 chemist shops in the district out of which 402 are located in her jurisdiction over Gidderbaha and Malout areas. “We are constantly in touch with the chemists associations and patients too are directly getting in touch with us,” she said, adding that two volunteers are also offering home delivery of medicines to public in emergency circumstances.
Three shops each in Malout, Badal and seven shops in Gidderbaha have been ordered to remain turnwise open. Public is being made aware about the timings of these shops through publicity vans, control room and social media, she added.
Drug inspector deployed in Muktsar town, Omkar Singh said that a few medicines, like insulin, which are more in demand, will be allowed to be purchased in bulk by wholesalers from nearby districts before opening of the shops on April 5.
