IEEE YESIST12 held at CGC Landran
Mohali, 18 April 2026- CGC College of Engineering, Landran, Mohali, through its Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) and IEEE student branch, organized, IEEE YESIST12 (Youth Endeavours for Social Innovation Using Sustainable Technology), a global platform focused on developing sustainable, technology-driven solutions to real-world challenges. The initiative saw participation from 158 students across 52 teams, with 186 teams initially registering and 53 shortlisted for the final evaluation based on innovation, feasibility, scalability and societal impact.
Among dignitaries present were Chief Guest, Prof. (Dr.) Jasdeep Kaur Dhanoa, Executive Vice Chair, IEEE Delhi Section and Dean, IGDTUW; Guests of Honour, Mr. Arvind Sethia, VP Engineering, FYBROS Electric Private Limited, Noida; Mr. Kapil Sethi, Head of Technology, Network18 Media and Investments Ltd.; and Special Guest, Mr. Ashish Mehta, COO, Innovation Mission Punjab (IMPunjab). They were joined by Dr. Rajdeep Singh, Campus Director; Dr. Ashok Kumar, Director Academics; Dr. Sushil Kamboj, HOD, CSE Dept., COE-CGC Landran; Dr. Vinay Bhatia, HOD, ECE Dept., CEC-CGC Landran; Dr. Sukhpreet Kaur, Director-Principal CEC-CGC Landran; and Dr. Anuj Kumar Gupta, Director-Principal COE-CGC Landran.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Sushil Kamboj said, “IEEE YESIST12 reflects our commitment to fostering innovation that addresses real societal needs through sustainable technology.” Dr. Rajdeep Singh further shared that, “Such initiatives prepare students for industry and global challenges by strengthening technical competence, collaboration and problem-solving skills.”
The event featured tracks including Innovation Challenge, Junior Einstein and WePOWER, where participants presented sustainability-focused ideas and received expert feedback. The experience enhanced students’ technical knowledge, problem-solving ability, communication skills, teamwork and entrepreneurial thinking, while offering exposure to real-world challenges and global innovation standards.
The competition concluded with Team Deepsight from Geetanjali Institute of Technical Studies securing the Overall Winner position in the Special Track. Team Malvion from Karmaveer Adv. Baburao Ganpatrao Thakare College of Engineering, Nashik was declared Overall 1st Runner-Up in the Innovation Challenge, while Team ElectroNerds from CEC, CGC Landran secured the Overall 2nd Runner-Up position in the Special Track.
In the Innovation Challenge track, Team Malvion from Karmaveer Adv. Baburao Ganpatrao Thakare College of Engineering, Nashik secured 1st position, followed by Team A.E.I.G.S Farms from CEC, CGC Landran winning the 2nd position and Team Smart Vision from CEC, CGC Landran securing 3rd position. In the Maker Fair category, Team ZNOVA CORE from Baba Farid College of Engineering & Technology, Bathinda secured 1st position, followed by Team Jalvirasaat from CEC, CGC Landran in 2nd position and Team Kanyarasi India from the Indian Institute of Information Technology, Sonepat in 3rd position. In the Special Track, Team Deepsight from Geetanjali Institute of Technical Studies secured 1st position, followed by Team ElectroNerds from CEC, CGC Landran in 2nd position and Team Innov X from CGC Landran in 3rd position. In the IEngage track, Team crusty_pizza from Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University of Science and Technology, Murthal secured 1st position, followed by Team DevelopX from Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute in 2nd position.
