Chandigarh, August 9, 2022:
Punjab and Haryana High Court has quashed the recruitment of 1158 assistant professors of government colleges of Punjab on Monday. The recruitment was done during the Channi government by the then education minister Pargat Singh.
The government had decided to give additional five marks for these posts only to part-time, guest faculty and contract workers in government colleges, which the High Court has quashed.
Several petitions were filed, in which it was told that the Punjab government has started the process of appointment of 1158 assistant professors in government colleges of the state on October 19. Considering these petitions, the court has now dismissed the quashed.
According to this recruitment process, it was decided to give one mark per year to those applicants who are already working in a government college on part-time, guest faculty and on contract basis.
In this way, a maximum of 5 marks were decided to be given. But these extra marks are not being given to anyone working part-time, guest faculty and contract in government-aided colleges and any other college.
The petitioner said that these rules are completely wrong.
