Panjabi University Patiala wins ‘Vidhigya- National Moot Court Competition 2022’ at Chandigarh University
Judiciary is one of the pillars of democracy in India & moot courts are preparing students for better professionals of tomorrow, says Justice Sandeep Moudgil

Gharuan, November 23, 2022: Chandigarh University Gharuan, hosted ‘Vidhigya 2022’, the National Moot Court Competition, under its Law school University Institute of Legal Studies (UILS). The three-day event witnessed the participation of 36 universities from 20 states and Union Territories of India.
The teams presented positive and negative consequences ensuing the ‘Right to be Forgotten (Cyber Law)’ within the ambit of Article 21 of the Constitution of India. Justice Sandeep Moudgil, Judge Haryana and Punjab High Court, was the chief guest for the occasion. Other eminent guests at the event were Prof. (Dr.) Jyoti Rattan, Vice Chancellor Dr. Anand Aggarwal, and Prof. (Dr.) OP Midha, Director UILS Chandigarh University.
Panjabi University, Patiala emerged as the winner of the competition, and Punjab University Chandigarh stood as the runners-up. In addition to the team awards, Best Memorial Award was presented to Rohit Verma of Law College, Dehradun, and the Best Mooter Award was given to Shivani Sehrawat. Surbhi Jindal of Bhim Rao Ambedkar National Law University, Sonepat won the Best Researcher Award. Prof. (Dr.) Jyoti Rattan declared the results and congratulated all the winners.
While addressing the gathering, Justice Sandeep Moudgil said “Judiciary is one of the pillars of democracy in India, and when a common man, left with no options, looks up to the judicial system. According to a study conducted in the US, Law is one of the toughest and most stressful professions.”
Speaking on the occasion he added, “Mooting skills and moot courts play an integral role in the legal profession. This practice is preparing the students for a better tomorrow.”
At the closing ceremony of the event, Vice Chancellor, Chandigarh University, Dr. Anand Aggarwal in his address said, “Change of the World Order is only possible through the capable and passionate lawyers who have enough courage to change themselves first. Chandigarh University believes in imparting practical knowledge to the students and preparing them for a better future.” The semi-final and final rounds of the moot court competition were judged by a jury of eminent judges.
