Chandigarh, December 3, 2022: FAP National Awards 2022 phase 2 today commenced with 606 teachers of private schools from all over India in the Best Teacher Award (Nomination) and Best Teacher Award (Direct) categories, and 70 teachers were given the Pride of Punjab awards in three categories at the campus of Chandigarh University, Gharuan.

While delivering his address on the occasion, Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains said, “It is the responsibility of schools to inculcate young minds with human values, discipline, dedication, and civic sense. If you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime. So, if you educate a child the right way, you educate the entire state, a step towards change.”
Harjot Singh Bains further stated, “Punjab Government has today launched Mission 100% under which every student studying in Board Classes will be given individual attention to make them score good in Board Examinations and with a vision to attain 100% Board Results in the state. Department of School Education, Government of Punjab is working on revamping of academic syllabus, teaching-learning pedagogy, infrastructure and trained faculty so that every student of Punjab gets access to quality education.”
He informed, “Punjab Government is planning to transform 100 Government Schools into Schools of Eminence that will work upon improving the quality of school education. The government has announced massive increase in budget for School Education where 9% of the total state's expenditure budget is for schools. A total of Rs. 13,991 crores has been earmarked for school education, Rs. 1168 crores for higher education, and Rs. 641 crores for technical education.”
Dr. Jagjit Singh Dhuri, President FAP said, “The profession of teaching cannot be compared to any other profession. But private schools and teachers have never received any recognition despite their immense contribution in the field of education. And, FAP National Awards 2022 is an attempt to honour the efforts and academic excellence of private schools and teachers in education.
Speaking on the occasion of FAP National Awards 2022, Chancellor Chandigarh University Satnam Singh Sandhu said, “Private schools play a crucial role in imparting education to students. Today, 55% of the students are studying in private schools, but private schools and teachers have not received recognition for their contribution. The presence of Education Minister amongst us proves that the government recognized the teaching methodologies and commitment of teachers of private schools in shaping young as much as that of government schools. And, Chandigarh University is immensely honoured to have received the opportunity to host this dignified event. ”
