Conserve natural resources: PAU expert urges youths

Ludhiana, June 7, 2023: The Department of Family Resource Management, College of Community Science, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), celebrated World Environment Day with a focus on providing solutions to plastic pollution. A total of 60 students participated in the event.
Dr Kiranjot Sidhu, Dean, College of Community Science, stressed upon creating awareness and action for the protection of the environment.Dr Deepika Vig, Head, Department of Family Resource Management, encouraged the students to conserve natural resources.
Dr Sharanbir Kaur Bal, Associate Professor, demonstrated the making of compost from household waste.
Earlier, Dr Shivani Rana, Scientist and Coordinator of the event, welcomed the chief guest and the participants. Later, she informed that a poster making competition was held in which 15 students of different Colleges of the University unlocked their skills on the theme ‘Waste Management’.
Anchal Gupta, an expert from Passion Art Institute of Fine Arts, was the esteemed judge for the competition. Prizes were distributed among the winners of the competition and the participants.
The first prize was bagged by Punya Sood, a student of B.Sc. (Hons.) Nutrition and Dietetics, followed by Ms Anamika, a student of B.Sc. (Hons.) Community Science and Ms Gurleen Kaur, a student of B.Sc. (Hons.) Nutrition and Dietetics who won second and third prize, respectively.
Dr Ritu Gupta, Associate Professor and Co-coordinator of the event, proposed a vote of thanks.
