PAU launches ZAIKA product under Agripreneurship Banner

The Department of Food Science and Technology, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana, launched ‘Amla and Herb based Mouth Freshener’, a ZAIKA brand, produced and marketed by Mrs Anita and Ms. Shruti, during a Food Processing, Production and Marketing-cum-Sales Workshop at PAU. Both the ZAIKA women agripreneurs have been trained at PAU. Dr Savita Sharma, Head, Department of Food Science and Technology, unfolded this product under the banner of PAU, sharing that such initiatives boost the confidence of potential women agripreneurs to face challenges of marketing.
Dr Ramandeep Singh, Director, School of Business Studies (SBS) and Principal Investigator of NIDHI-TBI, highlighted the role of branding, labelling and packaging in food business. He dilated on the role of the SBS in promoting the concept of agripreneurship that includes product development and market development, primarily focusing on the promotion of local brands, apart from equipping agripreneurs to organize sales on farm markets, kisan huts, rural kisan bazaars, kisan melas, trade shows, exhibitions, through mobile vans or door to door selling, etc. He also shared that several PAU trained agripreneurs are currently successfully tapping global markets.
Dr Rupinder Toor, Associate Director, Skill Development Center, PAU, highlighted the role of training and incubation under the banner of Punjab Agricultural University which is a great support to women entrepreneurship. She exhorted potential agripreneurs to link with Skill Development Centre, PAU, and ensure the production of quality-food products, besides creating employment opportunities for youth.
