Punjab’s Meritorious School girl student to visit Japan to make global splash
Ferozepur, December 6, 2023: A student from border town Ferozepur’s Government Meritorious School, Hakumat Singh Wala – Gurvinder Kaur - will visit Japan. This meritorious school has always been at the forefront of improving academic knowledge and shaping the future of the students, in Punjab School Board exams results or JEE Main, Advance or cultural activities.
The Science Exchange Programme is an initiative by the governments of Japan and India to develop scientific temperament among school students and give them a chance to Indian students to explore Japan for a week.
This time, Gurvinder Kaur, a student of Meritorious School will visit Japan to get science and technology updates.
Congratulating the student, Chamkaur Singh, DEO)SS) and Pargat Singh Brar, Dy.DEO said it is a matter of pride, not only for the school but for the family, teachers, staff, Punjab state, education department and India as well.
Gurbir Singh, Principal of Meritorious School, said, Gurvinder Kaur is from a poor family. Still, his uncle helped her a lot in pursuing a higher qualification and she was selected for the school based on her performance in the 10th class.
While talking to Gurvinder Kaur, she said, she is very happy that she has been selected from Punjab and the border town of Ferozepur, to visit Japan to update the knowledge related to science. Though I was facing some problems getting my passport, the same has been resolved with the help of the Principal and staff. She thanked the teachers of Govt. Senior Secondary School, Mamdot from 10th class was passed and Saragarhi Memorial Meritorious School, with whose efforts, I have got the opportunity to represent India in Japan.
She said, I have never dreamt of the world border village and now I am excited and curious to land in Japan to attend the Science Exchange Programme, and full of hope to learn, grasp and explore. I feel there is so much to learn and explore. My family members and relatives were elated when they heard I was going to Japan.
