CGC Landran to host Smart India Hackathon 2023 as nodal centre

Chandigarh Engineering College (CEC)-CGC Landran has been designated as a nodal centre for hosting the grand finale of Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2023 – Software edition, for the sixth consecutive year. It is among the only three institutions in Punjab to have been selected as nodal centres. There are 47 nodal centres in India shortlisted to host this prestigious event. The competition will be held on December 19 and December 20, 2023. This annual, national level event is jointly organized by the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell, All India Council for Technical Education and others. It will see scores of students from across the country participating in a 36-hour software product development competition to ideate innovative solutions for problem statements shared by various ministries and organisations.
As nodal centre, CEC-CGC Landran will host more than 35 teams consisting of 300-plus students and their mentors from different Indian states, for the grand finale of SIH 2023. The teams competing at CGC would be working on six problem statements provided to them by the Ministry of Commerce and industry and Ministry of Defence. Students from CGC will also be representing the institution in SIH 2023 with one team competing in the Hardware edition while others participating in the Software edition.
SIH 2023 is acclaimed to be the world’s biggest open innovation model. Its key objective is to inculcate the culture of product innovation and problem-solving among Indian students. Being conducted every year since 2017, this event is held in two formats i.e. SIH Software and SIH Hardware editions.
