20 people of UP given different COVID vaccine doses; probe ordered
Chandigarh, May 27, 2021:
Twenty villagers in Uttar Pradesh's Siddharthnagar district were administered different doses of COVID vaccine. As per the information, the villagers were administered Covaxin earlier this month on May 14 after they were given Covishield in the first dose on April 2.
District medical authorities said an inquiry has been ordered in the matter. They also said that they had not received any health-related complaint from those given mixed doses.
Health officials said that the 20 villagers were healthy and had no side effects. However, some of them said that they were afraid that the "vaccine cocktail" would have an adverse impact on them in the coming weeks.
Notably, India has not allowed the mixing of vaccines and studies are going on around the world to see if different doses can be safely administered. (Source: ANI and BBC)
