Bomb threat emails trigger panic in Chandigarh; Schools, Secretariat evacuated

Chandigarh, April 6, 2026: Panic gripped Chandigarh once again after multiple bomb threat emails were sent to several prominent schools, the Mayor’s office, and the Punjab-Haryana Secretariat.
As the news spread, the administration and police swung into action. Teams from the Chandigarh Police, bomb disposal squad, and dog squad were immediately deployed, and the targeted buildings were evacuated as precautionary searches were launched.
Preliminary investigation has revealed that the wording of the latest threat email closely resembles earlier messages received in similar incidents.
According to police sources, the threat could either be a hoax or part of a larger conspiracy, which is currently under detailed investigation. Keeping student safety in mind, schools informed parents and, in several cases, declared early छुटੀ, sending children home safely.
Meanwhile, the cyber cell of the police has begun tracing the IP address of the email to identify its origin and the person responsible. Although no suspicious object has been found so far, authorities have placed the city on high alert and tightened security at government buildings and public places.
Police officials have urged citizens to remain calm and report any suspicious object or individual immediately.
