Punjab CM Mann warns police of strict action, says ‘black sheep’ in force won’t be spared

Bathinda (Punjab), April 6, 2026: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has issued a stern warning to the police department, making it clear that corrupt elements or “black sheep” within the force will not be tolerated.
Reaffirming his decision to transfer the entire staff of a police station and outpost in Bathinda, the Chief Minister said the government is following a zero-tolerance policy against drugs.
Mann acknowledged that some personnel within the police department are allegedly in collusion with drug traffickers. Terming such officials as “black sheep,” he asserted that strict action against them will continue.
He revealed that sarpanches from two to three villages had approached him with complaints, alleging that despite repeated information, the police had failed to act against drug smugglers.
The Chief Minister said that when village heads themselves bring complaints and the police still fail to act, it clearly indicates possible collusion. This, he said, prompted the decision to replace the entire staff.
Reiterating his stance, Mann described the fight against drugs as a “war” and said there would be no compromise in making Punjab drug-free.
