Canada Polls: Liberal Party wins 169 and Conservative 144 seats
22 Punjab candidates win, 6 Gill surname candidates also win

Surrey, April 30, 2025: Liberal Party led by Prime Minister Mark Carney has won 169 seats in Federal Polls held in the country. 3 seats short of full majority. Opposition Conservative Party has won 144 seats, Block Quebac has won 22, NDP 7 and Green Party has won 1 seat.
In the present elections, 22 Punjabi candidates have won whereas in 2021 elections, 15 Punjabi candidates had won. Out of these 22, 12 are from Liberal Party and 10 are from Conservative Party. 11 are from Ontario, 5 from British Columbia, 5 from Alberta and 1 has won from Quebac.
In Ontario, Sonia Sidhu has defeated Sukhdeep Kang in Brampton South, Amandeep Sodhi has defeated Taran Chahal in Brampton Centre, Maninder Sidhu defeated Bob Dosanjh in Brampton East, Ruby Sahota defeated Amandeep Judge in Brampton North Caledon, Bardish Changer defeated Wasim Botrose in Waterloo, Ikwinder Singh Gahir defeated Jaspreet Sandhu in Mississauga, Anita Anand defeated Raun Shinjher in Oakville East.

In British Columbia, Sukh Dhaliwal won for fifth time in Surrey Newton and defeated Harjit Singh Gill. Randeep Singh Saroa defeated Rajvir Singh Dhillon in Surrey Centre. Gurbakhs Saini defeated Sukh Pandher in Fleetwood, Parm Bains defeated Zaid Seegal in Richmond East.
Anju Dhillon defeated conservative rival Enyony Saar in Quebec.
In Ontarioa, Amarjit Gill defeated Kamal Khaira in Brampton West. Harb Gill defeated Richmond Pulock in Windsor West. Parm Gill defeated Christin Tessor Deckson in Milton East. Arpan Khanna defeated David Hindley in Oxford.
In Alberta, Jasraj Singh Hallan defeated Preeti Oberoi in Calgary East. Dalvinder Gill defeated George Chahal in Calgary Skyview.Jagsharan Singh Mahal defeated Mary Amarjit Sohi in Edmonton South East. Tim Uppal defeated Heremi Hophsalute in Edmonton Gateway.
In British Columbia Conservative Sukhman Gill defeated Kavin Milies.
Interestingly 6 candidates with Gill surname have also won and all of them are from Conservative Party.These include Amarjit Gill, Harb Gill and Parm Gill from Ontario, Dalwinder Gill and Amanpreet Singh Gill from Calgary and Sukhman Gill has won from BC.
A total of 68 Punjab candidates had contested this election in which 22 have won. Prominent Punjabis who lost include NDP leader Jagmeet Singh, Amarjit Sohi, Kamal Khaira and Bob Dosanjh.
