Chandigarh receives 33k vaccine dose from centre; vaccine for 18-45 age group to start from May 14
Chandigarh, May 12, 2021:
Government of India has allotted 33,000 COVID vaccines for Chandigarh to be administered to persons in the age group of 18-45. V.P. Singh Badnore, Governor of Punjab and UT Administrator has thanked Prime Minister, Home Minister & Health Minister for the allotment. The vaccines are reaching Chandigarh on Wednesday (May 12).
The Administrator has decided to start the vaccination to eligible beneficiaries (18-45 years) from May 14 onwards. The beneficiaries will have to book the slot and obtain time and place of vaccine through CoWIN portal. There is no facility for walk-in vaccination.
UT Adviser Manoj Parida stated that in addition to the existing vaccination venues in the government sector, additional venues will be opened in a few schools, exclusively for this age group of beneficiaries. The details of the venues will be intimated individually to the beneficiaries while booking the slot.
The beneficiaries may check their time slot online. The vaccinations will be administered in a phased manner to avoid crowding in different venues. Dr. Amandeep Kang, Director Health Services has stated that all necessary arrangements will be made on selected sites to ensure that covid protocol is strictly followed and doses are administered under proper medical supervision.
