Ferozepur (Punjab), February 10, 2026: Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria on Monday led a major anti-drug foot march in the border district of Ferozepur, giving fresh momentum to the campaign against drug abuse in the state. The march witnessed the participation of prominent religious and political figures, making it a significant social and political event.
The presence of Radha Soami Satsang Beas chief Baba Gurinder Singh Dhillon emerged as the key highlight of the foot march and remained a major point of discussion. His participation alongside the Governor drew widespread attention, especially in the backdrop of recent political debates in Punjab.
Baba Gurinder Singh Dhillon had recently made headlines after terming the allegations against Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia as false, a statement that had stirred political reactions across the state. Following that episode, his appearance with the Governor during the anti-drug campaign has again become a topic of political and public interest.
The foot march, led by the Governor, also saw the participation of Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal and senior BJP leader Ashwani Sharma. Sukhbir Badal was seen walking alongside the Governor and the Dera Beas chief.
Political observers view the joint participation of leaders from different political backgrounds on a common platform as a significant signal for Punjab’s social environment, especially on an issue as sensitive as drug abuse.
Addressing the issue, the Governor expressed serious concern over drug smuggling through drones from across the Pakistan border, particularly affecting border districts such as Tarn Taran, Fazilka, Ferozepur, Gurdaspur, and Pathankot. He also referred to the existence of a larger nexus involved in narcotics trafficking.
