Breaking: HC grants regular bail to Manpreet Badal in Bathinda Plot Case

Chandigarh, February 10, 2026:The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Monday granted regular bail to BJP leader and former Punjab Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal in the much-discussed Bathinda plot case.
Earlier, the High Court had granted interim anticipatory bail to Manpreet Badal in connection with the alleged irregularities related to the purchase of a property in Bathinda district in October 2023. Following further hearing in the matter, the court has now confirmed regular bail.
Senior Advocate RS Cheema, along with Advocate Dilraj Singh Bhinder appeared for S Manpreet Singh Badal.
Manpreet Badal was booked in FIR No. 21 dated September 24, 2023, registered at the Vigilance Bureau Police Station, Bathinda. The case was registered under Section 13(1)(a) read with Section 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (as amended in 2018), along with Sections 420, 409, 467, 468, 471 and 120-B of the Indian Penal Code. Charges under Sections 66(C) and 66(D) of the Information Technology Act, 2000, were also invoked.
The case pertains to alleged irregularities in the purchase of a plot of land, which had triggered a political and legal debate in the state. With the grant of regular bail, Manpreet Badal has received significant relief, though the investigation in the case is expected to continue as per law.
