Nawanshahr (Punjab), March 28, 2026:Reassuring residents amid concerns over fuel availability, Deputy Commissioner Gulpreet Singh Aulakh on Friday asserted that there is no shortage of LPG, petrol, or diesel in the district, while the administration continues strict monitoring to prevent hoarding and black marketing.
The Deputy Commissioner said that surprise inspections are being carried out daily at gas agencies and petrol pumps to ensure smooth supply of essential commodities. Currently, three gas agencies and three petrol pumps are being checked each day as part of the drive.
He informed that so far, officials have inspected 16 gas agencies and over 30 petrol pumps across the district, with no irregularities detected during these checks.
Appealing to the public, Aulakh urged residents not to panic or indulge in unnecessary stocking. “Adequate stocks of LPG, petrol, and diesel are available. Panic buying can disrupt the supply chain and create artificial shortages,” he said.
He further warned that strict action would be taken against anyone found involved in hoarding, black marketing, or illegal stocking, adding that the government has already invoked the Essential Services Maintenance Act (ESMA) to prevent misuse of essential commodities.
The Deputy Commissioner also advised consumers to book LPG cylinders through missed call services and complete their pending eKYC formalities at their respective agencies to ensure uninterrupted supply.
