Amritsar (Punjab), February 10, 2026: In a significant development, the Delhi Sentence Review Board (SRB) has once again rejected the bail application of Professor Devinder Pal Singh Bhullar, dealing a fresh setback to his hopes of release after over three decades in prison.
Professor Bhullar, who has been incarcerated for the past 33 years, saw his plea dismissed for the ninth time. The decision was taken during a crucial meeting of the Delhi SRB, where the cases of 51 life convicts were reviewed.
According to official sources, the board rejected the premature release of 25 prisoners, including Professor Bhullar.
Professor Bhullar was convicted in connection with the 1993 Delhi bomb blast case, in which nine people lost their lives. He was initially sentenced to death, a punishment that was later commuted to life imprisonment. He was also associated with the Khalistan Liberation Force (KLF).
Notably, Professor Bhullar has been suffering from serious mental illness for several years and is currently undergoing treatment at Guru Nanak Dev Hospital in Amritsar.
Despite repeated appeals citing his prolonged incarceration and deteriorating mental health, the Sentence Review Board has continued to deny his release.
