Declare entire Moga constituency sensitive: Capt Amarinder
Amrit Pal Brar
Moga: 16 February: Former Punjab Chief Minister & Punjab Pradesh Congress Chief Amarinder Singh on Saturday said Election Commission should declare entire Moga constituency as sensitive and deploy central forces at all the polling booths. Capt Amarinder Singh while addressing various election meetings in the Moga constituency said people of Moga are apprehending threats from the ruling party to vote in favour of SAD candidate Joginderpal Jain in 23rd February bye election. Election commission should deploy more paramilitary forces in the constituency to instill confidence among the voters added Capt Amarinder. Meanwhile the district administration had declared 47 polling booths as sensitive, 27 booths as hyper-sensitive and 19 as non-sensitive out of 93 polling booths in the constituency. All the sensitive and hyper-sensitive booths would be put under the supervision of paramilitary forces, according to election officer.

Some Akali families, ex-sarpanch Mangewala join Congress in Moga
MOGA, February 16: About a dozen families which had been associated with the Shiromani Akali Dal for a long time joined the Congress today under the leadership of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President Capt Amarinder Singh and in presence of Ferozepur MLA Parminder Singh Pinky and former minister Inderjeet Singh Zira.
Welcoming them into the party, Capt Amarinder said, they will be accorded due respect, honour and dignity in the Congress. He agreed with them that arrogance had taken over the Akali leadership, particularly Sukhbir Badal and Bikram Majithia who had made it difficult for anyone to stay and survive in Akali Dal.
Speaking on the occasion, the PCC President said, the very fact that these families who had a decades’ long association with the Akali Dal had joined the Congress only reflected the growing frustration and alienation among the Akali workers. He said, in the coming days several more Akali workers were likely to join the Congress.
Sardara Singh, ex-sarpanch of the village Mangewala, who led the group to join the Congress, stated that they had admired the policies of Capt Amarinder particularly when he was the Chief Minister and he had taken due care of the peasantry of Punjab like saving water and also ensuring timely uplifting of paddy and wheat from the mandis. The others whose joined the Congress today included Basant Singh Dhillon, Sukhwinder Singh, Iqbal Singh, Gurdeep Singh, Jagran Singh, Jagroop Singh, Mohinder Singh, Amandeep Singh and Nirmal Singh
