Mohali ready to combat possible third wave of Covid-19: Civil Surgeon

Amid warnings of a possible third wave of Covid-19 pandemic, Mohali Civil Surgeon Dr. Adarshpal Kaur said that the district health department with the cooperation and support of district administration is fully prepared to deal with any such crisis in future.
She said that although the number of positive cases has comedown drastically, the second wave is not over yet. “First of all we should try our best to not let such situation emerge, however, if the third wave really comes; we all need to be fully ready to face it”, said the civil surgeon.
She reiterated that according to the top health experts of the country, third wave will have the biggest impact on the children. The health department is making all preparations at its own level to deal with this situation. While bed capacity in government health institutions is being increased, there is research on pediatric treatment and online training of staff including doctors is also underway and necessary equipment for treatment is also being procured.
Emphasizing on anti-Covid vaccination, civil surgeon said that vaccination for persons above 18 years of age is going on in full swing at government and private health institutions across the district. She further said that every beneficiary must be vaccinated without wasting time as vaccine gives the body the strength to fight the pandemic. She added that the vaccine is completely safe and everyone should get it without any fear.
Making an appeal to the people, Dr Adarshpal Kaur said that it is very important to take precautions even after vaccination. Precautions like wearing masks, keeping distance from each other and frequent hand washing need to be taken as before. People should get out of the house only when there is an urgent need. She said that the health
Department has been doing its best to curb the further spread of the disease but without the cooperation of the people, it is very difficult to completely eradicate the disease. People should strictly follow government guidelines.
