Moga, August 5, 2021:
Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President and MLA Navjot Singh Sidhu has announced that the Power Pacts and Black Farm laws have broken the backbone of the economy of Punjab and Punjabis would be repealed from the outset in the next assembly session. He was addressing a packed meeting of party workers at Moga today. On this occasion, he was accompanied by MLA Dr Harjot Kamal, MLA Sukhjit Singh Kaka Lohgarh, MLA Darshan Singh Brar, Former Minister Malti Thapar, Punjab Congress Acting President Pawan Goyal, Former MLA Vijay Sathi, Mayor of Moga Municipal Corporation Nitika Bhalla, Chairman Inderjit Singh Talwandi Bhangerian, Chairman Vinod Bansal, District President Maheshinder Singh Nihal Singh Wala and others.
Addressing the packed gathering in his enthusiastic manner, Sidhu said that the previous SAD-BJP government had entered into power deals having their interests. Similarly, the three black laws implemented by the Union Government are a clumsy ploy to break the backbone of Punjab's economy. He said that Punjab was an agriculture-oriented state and its economy was based on this business which was why these laws were being imposed forcefully on the farmers. He claimed that power agreements and three black farm laws would be repealed in the next Punjab Assembly session.
He said that Punjab did not need any Delhi model. Punjab will be a model in itself. Similarly, Punjab is capable of making its laws, so Punjab does not need the laws being imposed by the Union Government. He called upon the Congress party workers not to sit at home but to come out to create a Punjab of people's thinking. Today every section needs to take part in the creation of a new Punjab.
Describing the 13 point program given by SAD President Sukhbir Badal as another new 'lollipop', Sidhu said that Sukhbir Badal should make it clear where the resources would come from to make this program a reality. He said that the SAD-BJP government had plunged Punjab into debt of Rs. 1.5 lakh. Due to which Punjab still has a debt of Rs. 3 lakh crore. Today, instead of showing people the dreams, we need to think about how to fill Punjab's coffers.
He said that the previous government had plundered the natural resources of Punjab. Punjab has an area of 1100 km of rivers. But the previous government used to deposit only Rs 3 crore per month in the exchequer as sand revenue, which is now being increased to Rs 300 crore by the Congress party government. Punjab was dominated by cable mafia, sand mafia, transport mafia and other mafias which are slowly being eradicated.
He said that there was no factionalism or opposition in Punjab Congress at present. All leaders and workers are united. He announced that he would start constituency-wise rallies after August 15, which he has started today from the historic land of Moga. He was greeted by a large gathering of workers at the rally. He lauded the public service and hard work being done by Harjot Kamal.
Earlier in his welcome address, the MLA Dr Harjot Kamal said that the appointment of Navjot Singh Sidhu as the President of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee has breathed new life into the party and the workers. There is so much enthusiasm among the workers that now no force can stop the victory of the party in the forthcoming Punjab Assembly elections.
