Government doctors’ union thanks Indian Hockey skipper for dedicating their bronze medal to COVID warriors

PCMS Association Punjab, a union of Government Doctors has thanked the captain of Indian men’s Hockey team, Manpreet Singh, for dedicating their bronze medal to COVID warriors of the nation.
State leaders of the PCMS including President Dr. Gagandeep Singh, Senior Vice President Dr. Gagandeep Shergill, Organizing Secretary Dr. Inderveer Gill and State Advisor Dr. Jasbir Aulakh have issued a joint statement in this regard. They lauded the performance of the Indian team in the Tokyo Olympics 2020 and said that they were proud of Indian Hockey Team that won the bronze medal in the Tokyo Olympics 2020 after 41 years. “The decision of Manpreet Singh, Indian team captain, is warmly welcomed by all the doctors and health workers fighting against corona in the country. The gesture of the Hockey team has not only given us strength and vigor for the tireless fight against the Corona pandemic but it has also provided a big inspiration to the health workers to put their 100 per cent efforts in this fight,” said the doctors in this statement.
The PCMS also assured the players of the Indian hockey team that as their dedication, ingenuity and hard work had brought this victory, so too the COVID Warriors would put even their lives in risk to control this pandemic. The doctors wished the team more big international victories in the future as well.
Notably, India men's hockey skipper Manpreet Singh on Thursday had dedicated the bronze medal win at the ongoing Tokyo Olympics to all the COVID-19 warriors who have been working to save lives during the pandemic.
It took 41 years, but the dream of every Indian was finally realised on Thursday as the men's hockey team beat Germany 5-4 to win the bronze medal here at the Oi Hockey Stadium -- North Pitch. "And, now the long waiting dream has been fulfilled. This was a collective effort, from all the players, coaches and support staff. Their unrelenting backing has resulted in a positive outcome today. I dedicate this victory to the COVID warriors, who have been working relentlessly to save lives. This medal came after 41 long years and I'm confident that my team will continue to improve and perform better in the upcoming events also," Manpreet had said in a statement on Twitter.
