Now, ‘super sucker machine’ to clear blockages in drains in Ferozepur
Ferozepur, November 26, 2021: With the efforts of Parminder Singh Pinki, MLA, the ‘super sucker machines’ have been arranged in Ferozepur by the Punjab Government Local Department to efficiently clear blockage in underground drainage lines at a cost of Rs.1.5 crore.
The residents had been facing the problem of cleaning of sewerage pipes for the last five decades and complained of sewage getting mixed in drinking water.
Now, this machine could clear blockage and end seepage of sewage into drinking water pipelines. The high-power machine could reach a depth of up to 20 feet, twice as much as the machines used now. It would also prevent stagnation of sewage during rainy season. The 1,500 RPM (revolutions per minute) suction pump used in the machine would make drainage clearance more efficient. The hose attached to the machine is 60 feet long and can be adjusted based on necessity. Silt removal will not be a problem as the hose is made of a strong material.
MLA said, earlier the in manual cleaning many people had lost their lives but now with the super sucker machines fitted with inside cameras, no one has to go inside the sewerage main holes or pipes.
Pinki MLA said, the sewerage pipe lines have not been cleaned since its installation in 1970 and the sewerage system will now function properly with super sucker machines. He said, a team of 12 persons will run these machines and in-built camera will also be used for cleaning the sewerage by monitoring the status of cleaning done adding that it would also prevent stagnation of sewage during rainy season.
