Akali leader among 3 convicted by Ludhiana court in 2014 double murder case

Ludhiana court has convicted Akali leader Gurjit Singh alias Sam, Constable Yadwinder Singh and PHG Ajit Singh in double murder case of 2014.
The Court of Raj Kumar, Additional Sessions Judge, Ludhiana convicted Akali leader Gurjit Singh alias Sam, Constable Yadwinder Singh and PHG Ajit Singh in double murder case of 2014.
Notably, on 27.9.2014 at about 8 am, two real brothers namely Harinder Singh alias Lally and Jatinder Singh alias Goldy were murdered at Ahaluwalia Colony, Main Street, Jamalpur, Ludhiana and in this regard case/FIR No.125 dated 27.9.2014, under Section 302/34, 25/27-54-59 of the Arms Act was registered at Police Station, Jamalpur, Ludhiana. Later, Section 34 was deleted and Sections 148/149 IPC, 120-B IPC and 3(2 and 5), 4 SC/ST Act 1989 were added during the investigation.
In this case, the accused Gurjit Singh @ Sam, Constable Yadwinder Singh, PHG Ajit Singh, PHG Baldev Singh were arrested and other accused namely dismissed Inspector Manjinder Singh and his reader Sukhbir Singh were declared proclaimed offenders (PO) by the Ld. Court.
Initially, investigation of this case was conducted by Additional Station House Officer of Police Station Jamalpur and then by Lakhbir Singh Tiwana, PPS, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Sahnewal, Ludhiana. Due to henious crime committed by the officials of the law enforcing agency of state, on 29.9.2017 Director General of Police, Punjab has constituted Special Investigation Team under the Chairamanship of Ravcharan Singh Brar, PPS, Senior Superintendent of Police, Ludhiana (Rural) and Satvir Singh Atwal, PPS, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police-1, Ludhiana and Lakhbir Singh Tiwana, PPS Assistant Commissioner of Police, Sahnewal, Ludhiana as its members and Parmod Bhan IPS Commissioner of Police, Ludhiana has been nominated as supervising officer of the case.
That story/facts behind this murder incident is that deceased had supported Aam Aadmi Party in the Parliament Elections held in the year 2014 in which Harinder Singh Khalsa of AAP was elected as Member of Parliament. During elections, threats were passed by the Akali leaders to the deceased not to support the AAP in the area but after elections deceased were implicated in attempt to murder case/ FIR No.162 dated 23.8.2014 Under Section 307, 323, 324, 148, 149 registered at Police Station Machhiwara, District Khanna and they were availing legal remedy in this case including anticipatory bail and even their mother namely Gurmit Kaur approached higher authorities for inquiry regarding innocence of her sons in this case/FIR No. 162 and on the basis of complaint/application dated 18.9.2014 Punjab State Human Rights Commission,
Chandigarh (Complaint No.12393 / 10 / 2014) sought report from SSP, Khanna and he ordered inquiry from DSP Khanna but during inquiry both were murdered. On 27.09.2014, without entering in daily dairy record of case/FIR No.162 dated 23.8.2014 and without informing the local police of Ludhiana, the accused persons trespassed into one house at Jamalpur area of Ludhiana and murdered Harinder and Jatinder and detained some other persons which were lateron shown as arrested from some other.
The SIT constituted to investigate the case of double murder case and presented challan/final report U/s 173 Cr.P.C.
On 27.9.2014, during phone conversation with Lakhbir Singh Tiwana, PPS ACP, Sahnewal, the accused dismissed Inspector Manjinder Singh admitted that he was present at crime place with the police party when both brothers were murdered and this conversation was duly recorded and taken into possession in this case vide recovery memo dated 17.10.2014 and is also mentioned in the final report U/s 173 Cr.P.C.
During the trial statements of 51 witnesses were recorded and finally accused are convicted for murder, criminal consperacy and arms act but they were acquitted in SC/ST Act provisions. In this case accused Baldev Singh has been acquitted.
