Basketball Senior National Title for Punjab and Indian railways
Udaipur (Rajasthan ), December 4, 2022: Punjab Men and Indian railway women to the top of 72nd Senior National Basketball Championship for Men and Women as in Men Punjab crown with an 94-80 victory over Tamil Nadu and in women Railway with an 110-64 victory over Kerala
Indian Railway retained the title while Punjab regain the trophy from Tamil Nadu .
In the women final Dharshini came as the top scorer with 19 points then Pushpa with 15 and Madhu Kumari connected three three-pointers to score 11 points to guide Tamil Nadu to their Title
In a remake of the 71st Senior nationals as well as recently concluded national games, where Tamil Nadu the champions, todays final game, Tamil Nadu nearly lead 23-16 and at the Interval with an 4 -point lead but the Gurbaz and Amritpal and Amarjoth combined to score 77 points to lead Punjab , who moved into sole possession as Champions today. Jeevanathan Aravind their combined effort of 41 points could not help the side to retain the tropy. Aravaind A came as the Top scorer with 21 followed by jeevanathan with 20 for Tamil Nadu.
Bronze for Indian railway Men and Delhi Women
In Men Indian Railway took the third spot defeating Rajasthan(88-71) while in women Delhi claimed the final spot on the podium after they defeated Karnataka (74-53 ) with a strong finish in the Third Place Game, on Sunday.
Gurbaz Singh Sandhu of Punjab in Men and Pushpa M from Indian Railways in women was awarded the Most Valuable Player of the Championship.
