Pathankot, 26 May 2023 In a significant breakthrough, the Pathankot Police have successfully apprehended the culprits involved in a massive job scam that defrauded innocent victims of their hard-earned money.
The arrested accused have been identified as , Dr. Raj Kumar son of Booti Ram. Resident of Kabir Das Colony, near Flyover, Sarna Pathankot and Lakha Ram son of Mangal Ram resident of Zirakpur, SAS Nagar, Mohali.
Divulging more details to the press media, the senior superintendent of police Pathankot, Harkamal Preet Singh Khakh said that the fraud scheme came to light when the victims, Harpreet Singh and Rajinder Kumar, submitted their complaints to EOW wing of Pathankot Police.
The diligent efforts of Incharge EOW Wing Pathankot, Ms. Gurpreet Kaur, exposed the fraudulent nature of the documents, confirming the victims' worst fears.
Acting swiftly on an FIR registered under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the Police team led by SHO Division No. 1 inspector Mandeep Salgotra, exposed an elaborate network of fraudsters and unearthed a scam of staggering amount of over 89 lakhs.
During the course of the investigation, the accused, Raj Kumar, provided vital information about his associates involved in this criminal enterprise. The list of accomplices includes individuals from different locations. It is believed that these individuals played significant roles in executing the scam.
He has received money from various individuals who were promised jobs in the FCI. The funds were then transferred to Lakha Ram and deposited into some delhi based accounts. As many as 19 individuals fall prey to his elaborated job scams. The accumulated sum of the fraudulent transactions amounts to a staggering Rs. 89,52,000.
Pathankot Police has seized crucial evidence that strengthens their case against the accused.
The recovered items include handwritten notes, debit cards belonging to different banks, cheque books , appointments letters, receipts, and mobile phones. These pieces of evidence form a solid foundation for the prosecution, ensuring that justice will be served swiftly.
SSP Khakh expressed his satisfaction with the progress of the investigation, stating, "Our dedicated team has worked tirelessly to uncover this fraudulent operation and bring the culprits to justice. The recovery of such a significant amount is a testament to the hard work and commitment of the Pathankot Police. We assure the victims that their trust in the police is not misplaced and that we will do everything in our power to ensure justice is served."
