Utilized funds must be spent for welfare of people by starting new projects; Balkar Singh instructs officials
Local Government Minister reviews the development works through video conferencing

Chandigarh, September 20, 2023: The Punjab government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is constantly striving to provide basic facilities, better civic services, and urban infrastructure to the people of the state.
Taking a step forward in this direction, Local Government Minister Balkar Singh held a review meeting on development works through video conferencing with senior department officers, municipal commissioners, and additional deputy commissioners across the state.
Addressing the meeting, the Local Government Minister asked the officials to stop illegal constructions and ensure proper sanitation in urban local bodies.
During the meeting, Amrut Scheme 2.00, Swachh Bharat Mission, and Punjab Urban Improvement Program Phase 1, 2, and 3 were reviewed. The Minister has directed the officials to expedite ongoing development works in the state.
Under the Swachh Bharat Mission, various projects related to making Urban Local Bodies garbage-free, waste disposal in a scientific manner, wastewater management, pending building plans, pending NOCs to regulate plots and various other issues were discussed in detail.
The Minister for Local Government asked the officials to provide complete information regarding the development works related to the MLAs of their constituency so that development works can be conducted according to the needs of the state's residents.
Apart from this, he emphasized that schemes related to development works should be implemented on time, and funds should be used properly.
The cabinet minister further stated that Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann's dream is to make the state "Rangla Punjab." Therefore, he appealed to the officials to ensure that they work diligently and with mutual support.
Local Government Department Secretary Ajoy Sharma, Punjab Water Supply and Sewerage Board CEO Malwinder Singh Jaggi, Director Uma Shankar Gupta, PMIDC CEO Deepti Uppal, and other senior officials of the department were present at the meeting.
